Happy Canada Day 2025!
Shinichi has been eagerly anticipating this special day. For at least a decade, he has celebrated July 1st, which is Canada’s Independence Day, commonly known as “Canada Day.” In particular, Shinichi has grown increasingly fond of CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) Radio over the years.

During Shinichi’s childhood, his parents chose not to put a television in his room. They worried that certain TV shows might distract him and reduce the time he spent studying important subjects. Instead, they allowed him to listen to the radio, which sparked his love for radio programs.

In his teenage years, Shinichi enjoyed listening to Japanese music countdown shows. But unfortunately, his favourite Japanese singer-songwriter passed away during that time. They had a clear voice and excellent lyrics. This fact has prompted him to explore cozy music in English. In 2009, when he began taking English lessons and started his job in hotel reservations, Shinichi discovered the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) radio podcast. He gradually made friends who spoke English, which helped him improve his language skills. Since 2011, Shinichi has regularly listened to CBC Radio as part of his daily routine. He started with music programs.

Shinichi enjoys listening to the radio, and both Japan and Canada offer a variety of radio programs, each with its unique advantages.
Canadian radio features a natural intonation and pronunciation that creates a melodic rise and fall. This makes for a comfortable listening experience, often suitable for background music.
Japanese radio allows for interaction between radio personalities (DJs) and listeners. Some listeners can share their nicknames, which we refer to as “radio names.” The DJs then read these names and the accompanying messages, bringing joy to the listeners.
Both Canadian and Japanese radio have distinct styles and strengths. Radio can serve as a great alternative to television and the internet.
